Black absorbs all colors, reflects no light.
There is hope somewhere in all of this but for a few nights, I would like to experience black in the place of those who have lost loved ones and those who still wait patiently for word. Offering presence, silence, and sympathy because the loss is just too difficult to bear.
I believe in action but also in grieving–grateful though, because, paralyzed as I am by this surge of emotion, I am witness everyday to givers whose hands are always open, ready to help.
You will all lead us back into the light.
